The grill Formula 1 2011 is now complete after Hispania has confirmed Tonio Liuzzi as a driver and team mate Narain Karthikeyan. Liuzzi was left without a seat despite having a contract with Force India for 2011 and had tried HRT in Montmelo last month.
This is good news that Hispania, which will present its new F111 on Friday in Montmelo, have chosen a fast rider and experienced rider rather than a payment. Tonio, who has competed at junior level with team principal Colin Kolles has played in 63 Grand Prix with Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Force India to be their best results two sixth, one of them made in Korea last year.
The presentation on Friday at noon of the new F111 means the team can only test a maximum of one and a half before being sent to Melbourne for the first Grand Prix, although this is already far more than it had last year, when finished assemble cars in the pits of Bahrain, shooting one of them for the first time in qualifying. One of the concerns of HRT is the re-introduction of the norm of 107% in qualifying, although the gearbox and rear of Williams joined the engine Cosworth performance should improve over last year.
